Hi I want to ask My mum that I want to get tested for autism and I want some tips but I’m not sure if ur that type of channel

  • @Weirdisjustabrownandyellowword

ADHD isn't a mental health condition. It's a type of neurodivergence. It's literally just a different type of brain, and not an inherently unhealthy one.

I appreciate this video. I was diagnosed with ASD when I was two years and nine months old. Instead of learning to speak normally, saying words a few at a time to start, I first spoke by reciting long passages of books my parents had read to me. Or I would repeat back to someone exactly what they said to me (echolalia). I learned to speak “normally”by the time I was four. I grew up near a major research university and received my diagnosis there. I’ve spent a lot of time at the research university because my parents enrolled me in many ASD studies when I was young, and I’ve continued to participate in studies as an adult. I understand ASD, but have never looked into ADHD, or the connection between ASD and ADHD. As is the norm, I was tested to determine my general intelligence at the same time as I was tested for ASD (to determine if I also had any intellectual disability). I don’t. I’ve consistently had a percentile score of 97 or above. I also don’t understand or miss many things that seem obvious to other people, particularly regarding social communication. I view all neurodivergence as a trade-off among cognitive abilities. It creates challenges, but all challenges can be understood and addressed and/or accommodated. Neurodivergence should not be viewed as a negative. There are many benefits to having a mind that is not neurotypical. 20:27

I took the MBTI at work on the condition that my results would be and remain confidential to me. I don’t think the MBTI reflects the complexity of personality, or the ways in which personality traits can be a response to a particular environment. The test has led me to question whether I have ASD. Maybe this is just my personality. My deficits in social communication could be due to my lack of interest or attention to social interactions. Although I love people and talking to people, it’s not something that I’ve really focused on. 20:27

Ill set you free. It’s in the thought patterns and limiting beliefs that were pressured onto you that your really suffering from. The Neuro chemical imbalance argument people like to fall back to affirm their misguided beliefs is still not seen for what it actually is. Because in reality it’s not the cause. The physical evidence we observe is a symptom. And it comes from trauma. Undo the trauma and your life will change for the better as a result.

I always struggled with sports especially team sports because of over stimulation and the fact that I also have a sort of disability with my joints so it was harder to move but I used to get bad grades in my PE classes because I would refuse to participate due to over stimulation or insecurity like I hated dodge ball and really any sport with a ball because a bunch fast moving objects are really over stimulating like fast cars and also I have strong emotions when I get teamed with the competitive kid I would always cry even in high school because I know when I didn’t do something right they were disappointed in me. The only form of exercise I can do that I’m barely getting into now is going to the gym because exercise gives me an adrenaline rush

As people who’s brain works differently we are always kind of made to feel insufficient and to beleieve things like “I managed to get it done DESPITE not managing my time,” instead of realizing that we actually were managing *our time* not the *clocks time* … and always feeling wrong and guilty even when we succeed because we didn’t do it the way we were told we were “supposed to” and feeling wrong when we do I’m fact do what we are “supposed to” because it doesn’t work out so we feel like a failure and being *gaslit* by the entire world to ignore the idea of doing what works and m just keep feeling like a failure because the world claims that what works for us can’t possibly work and what fails for us can’t possibly fail…

I just LOVE you!!! I just spent over an hour planning this week, with a detailed hourly plan. I stood back and looked at it and went - UGH! This is a mess, and I am already avoiding it and it's not even Monday yet. But a general list...I am finally learning I flow better and can pick what's next. I will say, I function much better with a rhythm to my week, such as grocery pick up is always on a certain day, basic house cleaning is on a certain day, etc. There is a landing place for the major home tasks that need done on each day, so I don't have to think about it. Thank you for this video.

Psychology today has also not worked for me. Therapists just mention they are experts in adhd and cbt but reality is totally different. Do you have any additional tips?

What's it called when you do things that get you into trouble because I don't know your impulsive I guess and dont think about consequences or trouble after you might get into because your brain doesn't think like that it just goes omg this is happening right now and goes into overdrive and emotions play out and something small to others becomes a really big thing and it might become aggressive or inappropriate or serious because you didn't process it I don't really know how else to explain this but I do a lot of things without thinking them thru sometimes and regret them afterwards when in trouble or making matters worse. I am medicated with sodium valproate for bipolar but have recently noticed it keeps my mania somewhat in check but I still am quite impulsive or silly and dumb at times. I am actually not out to cause trouble or do bad things but they just happen and I don't know how to work on this or better myself if I don't know what this behavior or problem is because I don't know what to study or research to better myself I know I have a history of childhood abandonment and maladaptive scemas are social isolation and abandonment trauma and subjudication etc
